Robert Rummer Legacy

Robert “Bob” Rummer was a defining figure in Pacific Northwest mid-century modern design. Between 1959 and 1975, he built hundreds of homes across Oregon and Washington, working with A. Quincy Jones, the same celebrated architect behind Joseph Eichler’s iconic California communities. Rummer brought that vision to the Pacific Northwest, creating homes defined by post-and-beam construction, central atriums, vaulted ceilings, and walls of glass that dissolve the boundary between indoors and out.

Clusters of Rummer homes still anchor Portland-area neighborhoods including Bohmann Park, Oak Hills, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, and Gresham. Today, “Rummers” are among the most prized mid-century homes in the country, headlining home tours, restoration projects, and preservation efforts across the region.
